Lead Brewer Needed in Bigfork, Montana

Flathead Lake Brewing Company is expanding and is in need of a passionate, experienced brewer.

Job Summary and Duties
We require a professional, experienced brewer to fill the Lead Brewer position.
The Lead Brewer will oversee all aspects of beer production for the company and is responsible for making the highest quality beers.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Raw material handling, Brewhouse operations, cellar operations, CIP, record keeping, yeast management, cleaning, carbonation, packaging, etc.
Brewer needs to be self-motivated and always looking to learn, improve, grow, and take on new responsibilities.
Assist on brewery expansion (new brewhouse and tanks ship in early Jan 2014) and a quick volume growth in next 2 years.

Working Conditions
Brewer needs to be able to work on their feet eight to twelve hours per shift, be flexible to work day/night/weekend shifts, ability to lift up to 55lbs, work in extreme temperatures (cold and hot) for periods of time, in loud production environments, work from heights, work with chemicals, be able to do stairs repeatedly.

Essential Functions in Supporting Our Mission
Work with our Director of Brewery Operations to ensure a consistent product.
Coordinate an annual brewing schedule.
Assist in coordinating supply, control measures, and purchasing.
Recipe formulation. You will have a large part in designing your own unique beers.
Face to face interaction with our guests in-house and at festivals, pairing dinners, and special events. Our brewers will be an integral face of FLBC.

Desired skills and qualifications
Must love beer!
Must be a good team player, possess a strong work ethic, and be mechanically adept.
2+ years in a production brewery.
Experience with Meheen and Wild Goose packaging a plus
Familiarity of all styles and recipe formulation, including yeast strains, barrel aging, and history of beer styles.
Degree from a recognized brewing school a plus.
Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
Physical fitness and good energy required.
QA/QC knowledge and experience.
Comprehensive understanding of all brewery operations from raw materials through packaging with strong emphasis on quality and safety.
Desire to have fun while being part of a progressive venture, with a sense of community, responsibility, and ownership for what we are doing.

Bigfork is a small town with a great community of people. Recreation, fresh water, and wildlife abound. Must love lions, grizzlies and black bears, skiing, Glacier National Park, biking, hiking, swimming, floating rivers and lakes, fishing, kayaks, and long summer days!
