This is a full time position at Flathead Lake Brewing Co. located in Bigfork, Montana. We are a growing and dynamic brewery producing high quality beer for the entire state of Montana. The brewery operates 8-5pm Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Wort Production:
- Performing all aspects of the brewing process.
- Milling/Mashing/Lautering.
- Graining out
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and precisely.
- Knocking out at specified temperatures.
- Brewhouse CIP.
- Ability to observe and assess fermentation and maturation.
- Accurate gravity readings.
- Ability to maintain accurate Brew Logs.
Cellaring:
- Beer transfers
- Keg filling/cleaning/sanitizing.
- Beer draught system cleaning and maintenance of in-house tap lines.
- CIP/SIP of tanks and other equipment.
- Keeping brewery equipment organized and monitoring supplies.
- Dry hopping.
- Ability to maintain accurate Brew Logs with accurate daily gravity readings.
Other:
- Monitoring flavor profiles daily.
- Keeping accurate, timely, and legible records.
- Troubleshooting mechanical equipment to ensure safe and timely production of finished beer.
- Communicating with the Head Brewer to understand and fulfill responsibilities.
- Reporting safety, maintenance, or beer quality issues to head brewer.
- Many other random tasks in and around the Brewery, including all packaging.
- Aiding in the education of guests and participating in brewing events.
- Pilot and small batch brewing.
Desired Qualifications:
- Professional brewing experience preferred.
- Formal education is preferred but not required.
- Ability to be self-motivated and demonstrate repeatable, unsupported proficiency in complicated and sensitive tasks after training, practice, and feedback.
- Growth-oriented mindset with a willingness to openly communicate mistakes and gaps in knowledge.
- Demonstrated ability to make intelligent decisions in difficult, rapidly evolving circumstances.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, self-awareness, verbal and written communication, and emotional intelligence.
- Willingness to work weekends when necessary.
- A valid and current driver’s license and ability to load, unload, and drive delivery vehicle.
- Ability to repeatedly lift 55-pound bags above shoulder height.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift 165-pound kegs.
- Ability to work in tight spaces with low clearance for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in both hot and cold temperatures.
- Ability to work with hazardous chemicals and wear personal protective equipment.
- 21 years of age or older.
