Science on Tap | The Hubble Space Telescope

We are reaching for the stars this coming month at Science on Tap-Flathead. The Hubble Space Telescope is arguably the most important astronomical instrument ever built. Dr. Korechoff’s presentation will describe the Hubble Observatory and the advantages of a telescope in space, how the telescope was repaired on-orbit, and what the Hubble Space Telescope has contributed to our understanding of the universe.

Dr. Korechoff has been an aerospace and optical engineer for 43 years; the last 26 years as an optical engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA. He was involved with the design and build of the second generation Wide Field/Planetary Camera. This camera was the principal imaging instrument for the Hubble Space Telescope for 15 years.

Please note: Participation in the main Science on Tap room will be capped at 50 seated. We will have overflow seating in the Barrel Room as well as have the presentation on our TVs and speakers throughout the Pubhouse.

The Flathead Lakers, Flathead Lake Biological Station and the Flathead Lake Brewing Co. Pubhouse present Science on Tap-Flathead to begin a conversation with our community, to present science in a fun and approachable way, and to communicate and share together our love and respect for this incredible place we live.

From 5 to 8pm the day of Science on Tap, $1.00 of every pint sold will be donated to the Flathead Lakers & the Flathead Lake Biological Station.

Join us February 6th! Presentations start at 6pm. Join us the first Tuesday of every month for a different discussion on topics of interest around the lake and region.
