Erich is a Research Physical Scientist with the U.S. Geological Survey Northern Rocky Mountain Science Center in West Glacier. His research focuses on snow avalanches, snowpack dynamics, and long-term changes in snow and ice across the landscape. He started with the USGS in 2007 as the lead avalanche forecaster for the Going-to-the-Sun Road Avalanche Program in Glacier National Park. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. from Montana State
